“Berlin-Adlershof” district is a privileged location for scientific institutions as well as for industrial and media companies. Germany’s most modern “Start-up and Technology Centre” comprises eleven independent research facilities, six research institutes affiliated to Humboldt University and more than 900 advanced technology companies and start-ups with 23,000 employees and trainees.
“Berlin-Adlershof” district is more than 250 years old, having been founded in 1754. Later it was the cradle of the German aviation technology and a centre of research as well as of cinema and television productions. Today roughly 15,000 people live here, mostly east of the urban railway line around the historic district centre. The “Technologiepark” and the University Campus are located in the south on the site of the former airport. It is the largest and leafiest borough of Berlin and features the highest density of watercourses, lakes and ponds.
