Löbtau was first mentioned in 1068 and celebrated its 950 years of existence in 2018. That makes this district 138 years older than Dresden, as it was first incorporated in 1905. Two schools and four child care facilities, a cinema, active clubs and associations and many small green havens with playgrounds attract young families in particular.

The inhabitants of Löbtau delight in the peace and quiet provided by the small side streets while also enjoying the short distances to public transport and to an array of shops.

The Kesselsdorfer Straße road is the main shopping area for Löbtau and the neighbouring residential area. It provides the ideal combination of craft workshops, independent businesses, bank branches, travel agencies, law offices, medical practices, pharmacies, fitness studios and restaurants.

The relaxed atmosphere and short distance to the Technical University of Dresden are increasingly attracting students to the area. This positive development is set to continue – the construction of a new tram route to the Technical University of Dresden is planned to start in 2020. A central station is planned on the Kesselsdorfer Straße road.
